The US deficit trade with China most likely will increase over the next five years. US consumption for Chinese goods will also remain strong.
The facts that the balance trade has widen in favor of China can be seen at "www.census.gov" the US Census Bureau on Foreign Trade Statistics:
The total balance trade between US and China, the last four years presents an incremental deficit ...
2008 .... -268,039 billion
2007 .... -258,506 billion
2006 .... -234,101 billion
2005 .... -202,278 billion
And indicates a steady grow of imports from China to the US, but as of May of this year, deficit was just...
2009 .... -84,621 billion
Compared to the same period the year before, which was...
2008 .... -96.836 billion
Clearly indicating that the balance trade with China has reduced, due to a reduction of imports the last 6 months. Still, this is no indication that US consumption will decrease the next five years. Most likely will continue to grow in the next months at the same time the balance trade with China widens again.
