Last minute travel ideas/deals is a great idea. In fact, there have been a number of folks who have tried this. The challenge is, of course, that most people prefer to research their destination weeks to months before going on a vacation.

From my research days as journalist I recall that last minute travel worked really well in Europe since they take more vacations and are willing to do something random one weekend in one of the countries that are all separated by only one to three hours (i.e. from the UK to Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain or France).
of course, Woot has a different promise: an outragously good deal once a day for a limited number of people. This in travel would mean you could go to a specific airline and hotel and say "I can more 200 tickets and 100 hotel rooms tonight if you give them to me for a package of $399 each."
I really think this could work.... I'd invest in the right team doing this idea!

It's not a bad idea, but you'd need a catchy name. Woot has really gained a lot of popularity simply because of how easy it is to remember the name. The other thing to think about is where you get these deals and how to get the discounted pricing.

I have a couple connections in the hotel industry. Plus airlines like JetBlue are already selling tickets on eBay-why not this way too. Every Tuesday could be "Jet Bluesday" with tickets for the coming weekend.
In my mind it would be very simple/specific. Each product would be for a set travel date and city. At most, maybe 1 or 2 date options.
If you start with just a couple major cities, it can grow from their. In this economy I imagine a lot of people will do close weekend getaways in lieu of full-fledged 7-day vacations. For example, a 2-night hotel stay in Napa Valley would be nice for people in SF/San Jose.
No reason you couldn't also sell/bundle attractions like theme park, sports or concert tickets.
If you're really interested, let me know. I could definitely build it.
