If I get layed off, can I collect unemployment from my employer if I create a new company (LLC for example)

If my company lays me off, can I collect unemployment if I create a new company where I would be an officer. My gut feeling is "No" (which would totally suck) but then it would be a kick in the butt to get going. Live in CT-USA if that makes a difference.Thanks

I believe that you could start your own business but any income you made would have to be reported to the unemployment bureau and would be deducted from your payments. That's how it works in Indiana, anyway, so I'd check local regulations to be sure.
