The actual number of all Wal-Mart stores in Brazil is 348. Today, the company has announced a US $809 million investment to open 90 new stores in the country. Will hire 10.000 more employees that will add to the 7.000 hired in 2008.
Although many international stores bear the name Walt-Mart, the company also uses other 60 brands, usually the chain stores it acquires. In Brazil, a market Walt-Mart entered in 1995, it is now building small discount stores aimed for the emerging middle class, but without the name Walt-Mart. This is the reason why Wal-Mart has so many stores in that country.
