The following table lists container counts (TEUs) for the previous month. Statistics for the recorded month are released on or around the 15th day of the following month.

Contributing factors for September 2009 volumes:

•Jan-Sep 2009 vs Jan-Sep 2008 overall POLA volumes down 16.28%, which is better or in line with other ports.

•Weak global economy continues to impact global trade.

•High level of unemployment continues to impact consumer spending.

•Retail sales in September 2009 declined 1.5% from August and decreased 5.7% from September 2008, to $344.7 billion. Excluding autos, retail sales rose 0.5% from the prior month but fell 4.9% from the prior year, to $288.4 billion."
