Have business extending the replacement cycle of their existing PCs?

MS still netted $2.98 billion, however, it netted $4.39 billion in 2008.
1. Has the replacement cycle increased in duration?
2. Are more companies upgrading PC components verse buying a replacement system?
3. Are hand held devices replacing desktop PCs?
4. Does the decrease in PC purchases by business reflect the increase in unemployment? Less people working.
5. Has Netbooks significantly cut into MS profits?

A typical business refresh cycle for PCs is every 3 years.

If a company extends the cycle for the PC from 3 years to 5 years what will be the outcome?

What do companies want from replacing their PCs? Do they want new software, better collaboration tools, or faster response time.

How capable are companies to buy PCs every 3 years?
