Technically Japan has emerged from recession, as it's reported a quarter with positive economic growth. So also have France and Germany.

However it's easy to read too much into these stats. It doesn't mean things aren't still tight or that jobs are still not being lost.

The main causes of the recovery in Japan seem to be a large government stimulus package, and a recovery of exports to China.

However it is another sign that a total meltdown and slide into a worldwide Depression has been avoided, and things will probably get better in the coming years.
