I signed up to get paid for reading my email. It involves signing up for 'free' trials. sometimes these trials charge a handling fee, usually less than $5. In the Terms of Service (TOS) they will tell you exactly how to cancel to stop any autoships.
Here is the problem, you pay your handling fee with you credit/debit card so they have your information. You will find that alot of them will charge you more than once for a product before the cancel date. Leaving you with bank fees and NSF fees. It cost me over $350 by the time everything quit bouncing. I got charged for 2 bottles of vitamins after the "free" one and didn't know it until it was way too late. I canceled my free trial according to the time frames and specifications required and thought I was clear. One week later I was getting phone calls from merchants that I had checks out with and the bank was smiling with all the profit they made off of all the fees they charged me.
I was successful in getting my money back from this company for the 2 charges they took from me but they would not pay the fees that resulted from their "should be illegal" practices.
My experienced advice is this. Stay away from these things. There are a few offers that are ok, but the one that will get you will be the one that wipes out your progress.

MyPoints doesn't pay you cash, but rather, they give you points that you accrue and then you can spend those points to buy gift cards and merchandise from their online catalogue. I have cashed in so many times with them, I've lost count. I got a $75 card from them to Walmart before Christmas last year and I got a Red Robin gift card for $35 just last month. You get more points if you buy things through them. I usually don't do this, but if I want to order something online, I will check their affiliate stores first to see if they offer something.
They aren't going to make you rich, but they are a nice little side income for some fun spending.

I like MyPoints the best. The day to day mailings build your points up pretty quickly, and some of the shopping deals can be quite helpful. For example, I sometimes buy my office supplies from one of the stores that gives free shipping for spending a certain amount. So, not only do I earn points for the purchase but I don't have to physically go to the local store if I don't want to, and in my area they deliver within a few days.
When you redeem your points for gift cards at MyPoints, you have a pretty wide range of choices. I benefit from using Target and Walmart gift cards to help with the grocery bill, and I especially like getting a gift card for the movie theater or a restaurant once in a while. There are many other gift card choices for home improvement stores, clothing stores, etc.

What you are talking about is referral trading. I have made money on it but the companies involved stoop to low levels to take money from you. I signed up to get paid for reading my email. In the Terms of Service (TOS) they will tell you exactly how to cancel to stop any autoships.

InBox Dollars payings you for reading emails and clicking on a link in the email to visit the site. You get a penny or two for visiting. They also pay you for signing up at World Winner and playing games. Every time you play a cash game, you get credited for your account. I make about 30 dollars per month from InBox Dollars. MyPoints doesn't pay you cash, but rather, they give you points that you accrue and then you can spend those points to buy gift cards and merchandise from their online catalogue. I second the inboxdollars.com claim. I've made most my money from them off worldwinner.com credits and ebay shopping but, you do get a few cents per email read as well. I've already made enough i had to send them a tax form. Check pay out does take awhile, I wish they'd o to paypal, but good site.

Sure I have. Its hit and miss with PTRs, but not all of them are scams. NoMinimum.com isn't a scam, I've been paid by them numerous times. There are others out there, but I would recommend staying a free member until you know for sure that they will pay you. Otherwise you'll be paying money for nothing if they're a scam...and at worse, will actually lose more then the initial dollar amount and the time.

In addition to Inbox Dollars for cash and MyPoints for gift cards mentioned by Michelle above, there is Send Earnings. It is very similar to Inbox Dollars, and I have been paid from these places for a few years now. You can have free memberships at these sites and click links in emails for a few cents each, and once in a while you may end up at a site that catches your interest. You can also earn by taking little surveys for fifty cents or a dollar. I believe there is a benefit from referring friends, but I have not done that. http://www.sendearnings.com/
