It is unlikely that MAP or vertical price fixing will be on the front burner of the Congress given the issues of the economy, Iraq and health care reform. In general a new administration has to judge where it should put it's early political capital, and on an issue like this, which few people really care about (sorry) and many people (and more importantly political donors like the Chamber of Commerce DO care about) then it becomes an issue of 'is it worth it right now?'

Anyway, thing to watch for: how soon does it get reintroduced. Who are the sponsors (and do they chair any of the committee which will hold hearings)? How many cosponsors? Is it talked about as a priority in the first few days of the new Congress. Will Obama even mention it in the State of the Union. And even if it does come up this year, expect a few years of regulatory issues and eventual court lawsuits before you see anything happening on the street level.

MAP pricing issues will only be re-reviewed by congress after Obama inauguration, meaning after January 21th, 2009. It can be any day after this.
