A) Most businesses sell items direct, or through the store (If you go to walmart.com its the catalog price, if you go to the store you are paying a little more to help pay for the store).
So the Catalog price would be what you sell the item for at a lower price (while still making money) because you don't have to pay for the store to run, the store price is a mark up from Catalog price (making even bigger profits) and helping pay for the store.
B) Yes you would write EIGHT so that someone cant say of that looked like a 9...that's how I make my 4s or something like that.
If you are making a bid, I would talk to the people who run the company and say hey look, Ill go 3% lower on your lowest bid (depending on how bad you need the business). That's what a vendor did to me, I honestly didn't care who we went with and if I could save that extra 3% (these are Cylinders for the trucks that cost about 1400 each and we would buy about 6 or 7 a month) I would take it.

Help With Percent On Bid Form?
If you go to http://www.comalisd.org/Bid/Bid_Files/Bid06-36AwardsPromotionalItems.pdf you will see Percent of Discount from Catalog or Published Price List: and Percent of Discount from Posted (Shelf) Retail Price:. What is the difference between the two? Would I have to answer both? I get my price from an online wholesaler.
Also I have another form that is similar and it states Percent of Discount from Catalog or Published Price List: Figures / Words %.
Lets say the discount is 8%. Would I put 8 / eight %?

Thanks for the reply. So since I am getting my price from an online wholesaler, I would just answer Percent of Discount from Catalog or Published Price List: and not Percent of Discount from Posted (Shelf) Retail Price:?

First I would make sure you are getting it at wholesale price....if you are, then yes you would answer percent of discount from catalog, if they ask for both, contact your wholesaler ask him what the RETAIL (est price that should be sold in stores) is and use that as the shelf price.
