Once a Mahaloian reaches 8000 points they become eligible for their Brown Belt on Mahalo. However, that belt is only presented after Mahalo staff consult the members recent numbers and activity to see if that Mahaloian is in fact ready to become a Brown Belt. Today we test @kerryk...

@Kerryk has already established himself as a helpful and regularly-contributing user on the answers community. Part of why he should earn his brown belt is because he is now dispersing his knowledge of Mahalo into tasks and page-management.

He knows a lot about sports and stays on top of sports news, which has started to pay off financially. The initial goal with tasks and page-creation that users will create pages on what they know best and hopefully earn money from it. @Kerryk built pages on Donovan McNabb, Jack Nicklaus and Phil Mickelson. And he was on top of the story when the Erin Andrews video broke. He built the page and already earned almost M$20 just by knowing the sports-news landscape.

He is very good with celebrities knowledge as well, which garners a lot of SEO traffic. He has the best answer for Whatever happened to Alicia Keys, Toni Braxton and Andy Griffith. He has had a best answer almost every day for the past month because his responses are thorough and accurate.

I hope that he keeps spreading out his knowledge across Mahalo, for example claiming his maximum number of pages. He is ranked 16th for answers, but only 147 for questions, so if there's anything he doesn't know, this would be the place for more questions.

@Kerryk is a true Mahalo veteran, a guy who has been committed to helping us grow our index of Mahalo pages since way, way before Mahalo Tasks or Mahalo Answers. I really feel like I've gotten to know him over the past year, and I could not be more pleased to see him perform so well in the new Mahalo system and earn his brown belt.

I think Kerry's record of participation basically speaks for itself, but I will praise it for a paragraph or so anyway. He consistently provides great answers on both smaller-tipped questions that don't get a lot of attention AND competitive, front-page queries. He earns A LOT of Best Answers, and sits in the all-time Top 25 answer-providers. PLUS, he's an extremely diligent page manager. His feedback on the page management process, in particular, has been invaluable to me and the site's developers as we continue to eliminate bugs and make the system clearer and easier to use.
