Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor and have no medical training. however, this might be a good place to *start* your research.

1. ACS has an overview here:
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_4_3X_Can_breast_cancer_be_found_early_5.asp

2. WIRED magazine has a really good story on the importance of catching cancer early.
http://www.wired.com/medtech/health/magazine/17-01/ff_cancer

3. The ACS has a story on MRIs for early detection, which I've never heard of: " Studies Have Shown MRI To Be a Sensitive Screening Tool. Now doctors from The Netherlands, reporting in a recent issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute and doctors from Toronto reporting in a recent issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology have found that MRI may be a more sensitive tool for detecting early breast cancer than standard tools. In each report MRI detected more breast cancers than did mammography in young women with strong family history or a BRCA mutation."

http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_1_1x_MRI_May_Be_Best_Way_to_Find_Breast_Cancer_in_Young_Women.asp

4. ACS has a mammogram reminder service:

I would print out all the solid information from credible sources you can find and bring it to your doctor to discuss.
