There is another more meaty and tastier pork product served at breakfast in the Philadelphia area. Bacon's evil step-cousin ... Scrapple.

~quote
"Next, all desirous head and non-head matter, including heart, feet and tail, are cooked in a pot with just enough water to cover. During cooking, meat loosens from bone and the skin, ears, rooter and nearly all head gristle softens. The resulting broth harbors an explosion of nutritional goodness"

If you haven't tried it I would recommend you give it a go as Scrapple has all the flavor of bacon but with the additions of down home Pennsylvania ingenuity. Really a must have for the breakfast meat (hog offal) connoisseur.

The reason this question popped into my head was I was currently eating Scrapple, but didn't want to have to explain it. I'm glad someone brought it up. :)
(But bacon's still awesome)

No. Everything is better with bacon. And bacon is awesome in solo mode.
