OPEN THREAD: Jimmy Bedford, former Jack Daniel's master distiller passes away

Ok, Jack Daniel's fans, time to share some memories about former master distiller Jimmy Bedford, who passed away on August 7, 2009.

While I am a beer person, I remember years ago buying a special box of JD featuring two small glasses with Bedford's name on them. Anyone have any special memories or stories?

I know only what I've heard through people who are either Master (wine) Sommeliers or distillers themselves. Its terrible to loses someone of this stature as people like Jimmy Bedford take years, even decades to learn their craft. Rest in Peace, Jimmy!
