I like to read alot too. My friends think reading is some kind of disease, LoL. For a great inspirational read check out Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom. Very poignant & quick read.

I actually read that a while ago - it was really fantastic, I have it here on the shelf next to me. Quite sad, but the message was awesome.

I love to read, my favotite book is God on a Harley,by Joan Bradley. This book lets you think about God in a more human way, closer to you.It changes the way you think of God,in a good ay of course. Then there's The House of the Spirits (La Casa de os Espiritus) by Isabel Allende, this novel takes you through three generations, a revolution and true love. And finally Gabriel Garcia Marquez, 100 Years of Solitude(100 Anos de Soledad). this one is a family and a town chronicle.

I really love Désirée by Annemarie Selinko, must have read that book dozens of times. I am not sure how inspirational it is, but certainly has some life lessons in it. It's a historical romance mainly from Napoleon Bonaparte's time line.

I love to read! My list include a book for each moment, for all tastes:

"1984" by George Orwell - about society, policy, is great!

"One Thousand and One Nights" a collection of stories - a classic. All fiction elements: dramatic, horror, science, crime...

"The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" by J. R. R. Tolkien - because of the ability to create a world! Fantastic!

"A Moreninha" by Joaquim Manuel de Macedo - is the first urban novel in Brazilian literature. The book that made me love of literature. =)

"I, Robot" by Isaac Asimov - Cause is a collection of nine science fiction short stories that anticipated our relationship with machines.

"Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley - horror classic. Because it arouses the anger and compassion!

Hey! Now that is a great list. Wish I could click helpful twice. Loved The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and 1984. Haven't read the others, but I'm adding them to my list right now. Thanks!

For me, the best books are the ones that make me look at something in an entirely new way. I love reading books by people who are much smarter than me, where I constantly find myself saying "wow, I never thought about it like that!"

Under these criteria, my top three would have to be:

"The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins
"What is your dangerous idea?" edited by Steven Pinker
"Cosmos" by Carl Sagan

Exactly! I'd add The God Delusion to the list I put up at front. Completely changed the way I look at life. I've also got the Selfish Gene, and Unweaving the Rainbow.
I've watched some talks given by Steven Pinker (authors@google) and he seems really interesting - mind-bogglingly smart. Adding Cosmos to the list. Thanks!

My two favorite books would be The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The first because it's a love story that the couple really overcomes many things thrown in their path. The way it's nararated makes you feel as if you were there in the fifties.

Fitzgerald is a fabulous author who dreamt up the most romantic man in fiction. I'm not a lovesick person but these two novels make me believe that there really is something out there to look forward too. It may not be a prince on a white horse but love will find you.

I also love anything by Shel Silverstein because he can brighten anyone's day with the most random humor ever.

My favorite books at this moment are as follows:

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
This is one of the most inspiring books I have read as it enlightens us to live in the moment. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow is an illusion.

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
This book is the second book written by this author. It is a wonderful read and helps in training the human mind to maintain a perspective of releasing old thought patterns to live the most peaceful life, free of negative thought patterns.
"We create our own reality."

In this fast paced world of uncertainty, I find that these books help to focus on that in which we have control: our thoughts. Thoughts are things.

Think a moment about Expectations Theory. The definition of Expectations Theory is "Motivational theory based on cognitive psychology. It proposes that people are motivated by their conscious expectations of what will happen if they do certain things, and are more productive when they believe their expectations will be realized." People react according to what they expect to happen, creating the circumstance they expect.

Guard your thoughts and what you allow to infiltrate your thinking.

I think you'd really like a book called Psycho-Cybernetics. Thanks for your suggestions, I've also been quite interested in Tolle, and read TPoN.
