Today is for sure eBook Day. There is not, nor ought there be, a more bountiful explanation for seemingly 20 posts about e-books in one day.

Science cannot produce an answer that provides such clarity; only transcendental intervention, some sort of universal ether into which we've all inadvertently tapped could cause such a bizarre string of events. This has been an example of a true anointing.

For all who have longed to read a book without killing a tree, there is eBook Day.

For the germaphobe, who wonders "just who" was fondling that copy of "Washington Square" on the shelf before them, there is eBook Day.

For the person bound to a Skytel pager that wants to read "Aromatherapy for Animals" RIGHT NOW, there is eBook Day.

For those who prefer to carry thousands of books in their backpack rather than 5, there is eBook Day.

Simply, eBook Day is a wonderful gift - a gift for every devoted follower of eBooks. Whether they say "eBook," "e-book," or "e-Book," the wonderful message is the same in EVERY language.

Long...

Live...

EBOOK DAY. April 8th, represent.

It all started here in Mahalo Answers, thanks to a question by mrnemo because there too many individual ebook posts.

http://www.mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-community/is-today-e-book-day-or-something-i-saw-like-8-unique-ebook-posts-in-a-row-i-dont-want-to-feel-left-out

So it's more of a joke, really that started right here in MA. But I don't see why it wouldn't catch on!

National ebook day was started to celebrate the importance of reading technologies that have emerged in the last few years. Some people ( mostly gamers) claim that it is simply a sop to a special interest group, ie people who can read.
However, it has been noted that even gamers have to read now and then, therefore it is a inclusive commemorative day.
The noted answer site, mahalo.com is generally regarded as the point of origin, however this may be disputed by other less notable answer sites. Regardless, ebook day has a strong following at that site.

This answer might be a stub.

I'm afraid that I, and the Twitter question importer, are to blame. I did a couple of searches for "e-book" and "ebook" related questions, and pulled them in so I (and in some cases a few others) could answer them. That's what the instructions said to do, after all: pull in questions that you knew about and could answer.

So maybe I got a little carried away... :)

For what it's worth, there actually is a "National Read An E-Book Week". It's in March.

Ack! You dare speak such words without the intention of prayer or discussion of sacred matters! An indignity has been offered to the eBook Gods! These impiously irreverent words shall not be forgotten! You are claiming the prerogatives of the Holy eBooks! Scandal! Villany!
