However, I do enjoy solving problems that I actually care about, even if they happen to involve algebra, or something like it. When I'm trying to figure out how many freelance articles I'll need to sell to be able to afford to replace my noise-canceling headphones (this is what I was doing with my free time yesterday, you see), I use algebra - and it's fun, because I actually care about the problem's outcome.
Reading can be the same way for you. One of my brothers despised reading, period, until we got him a subscription to a BMX magazine. He was in his early or mid teens at the time, and read each issue from cover to cover because he was interested in what was in it.
If you're into, say, video games, then subscribe to a gaming magazine. If you see something cool on The History Channel, go to the library and see if you can find a book about that subject or period of time or whatever. Be warned, though, that not all books are equal. I've gotten my hands on some absolutely horrible books about poker, even though I will happily read just about anything that's written on that subject. If one book doesn't interest you, feel free to put it down and try another. You don't *have* to finish a book that sucks - that, in fact, just makes reading even less enjoyable.

The audio book companies choose such brilliant readers that take you right there. I became hooked and nowadays don't mind picking up a real book. An audio book is a tremendous way to fall in love with books. It gives you the accent that you don't have and the readers will never lull you to sleep like you might do yourself. Happy Reading!

Try beginning your fun reading career with audio books. Pick a book that you have always wanted to read or something you think is interesting and check your local library. Most library carry audiobooks of many best selling books. The audio book companies choose such brilliant readers that take you right there.
