You'll do much better in the hands of J.K. Rowling, Lynn Reed Banks, Stephanie Meyer, Kaza Kingsley, and many other young adult fantasy authors.

If you just need a book, go ahead. But if you want a true fantasy novel, try Lord of the Rings.

My advice: don't read it. Paolini was 15 - 17 when he wrote it, and that's how it reads. In my opinion, it's derivative rubbish. You'll do much better in the hands of J.K. Rowling, Lynn Reed Banks, Stephanie Meyer, Kaza Kingsley, and many other young adult fantasy authors.

I actually kind of enjoyed the series, until I noticed the parallels between Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I don't want to explain why everything is completely stolen from those series as to not spoil it for you, but if anyone wants to know, send me a direct question and I will tell you all that I have noticed, if I can remember it all. There is a lot stolen from those two series in particular. If you just need a book, go ahead. But if you want a true fantasy novel, try Lord of the Rings.
