That is a very hard answer. First, when was the car built, what kind of BMW, What kind of conditions is it driven in? You should expect 10 years or more but they are always wearing out from day one, so say after 5 years, you would probably feel better handling if you replaced them. Not to say they are bad after the 5 years but they are wearing out. On my car after 147,000 miles, my bushings were fine, but I upgraded them with solid bushings and it made a world of difference.

In the north country or in the mountians where it gets cold and the states use salt, the roads get a lot of pot holes and that will make them not last as long as say in the south. My best guess would be to have them checked by a mecanic every 2 years.

it is my experence that it is more where you live as to the mileage on the car.In the north country or in the mountians where it gets cold and the states use salt, the roads get a lot of pot holes and that will make them not last as long as say in the south.
