You are using several widgets(google friend connect, twittercounter, etc) which makes connections to external websites.

The external javascripts takes some time to load(including DNS queries for other websites).

You can test by removing those widgets.

It could also be the particular theme you're using. Try a different one and see if this speeds things up, if not. The slowness is most likely because of your sidebar.

I used to have a Flickr widget on my blog at blog.nordquist.org that took up to 30 seconds to load. I've pared down the number of widgets I use but anything that calls an external source can potentially slow the loading of the sidebar.

You might want to try searching for another widget that does the same/similar task you're after.

You may consider moving your blog to Wordpress as well which I've found to be a lot faster than blogspot blogs. Exporting your blog to Wordpress should be easy.
