It's sad to me to hear that you have sympathy for one but not another, and to judge whether one person's problem is "real" or not. Every behavior has a function - good and bad - and takes care of a need. Being "spoiled" serves a function as well and it might conceal a deeper issue.
I have sympathy for the part of these women who have a need to get their self-esteem met by doing this behavior.
