Here's a question for you - how do I put those little buttons on my blog posts so that people can post to Twitter/Facebook/Digg, etc?

It just popped into my head that I need to do this! My blog isn't that interesting, but I know that at least one person likes it ;)

(That's me, by the way).

So how do I do that? It's a Blogger blog, I don't know if that makes any difference...

If you want to show a twitter button so people will share your page through their status updates on twitter you can use services like AddThis.com

• I know other people gave me a lot more information and detail in their answers, but this was the one answer that was easiest for me to follow (as I have the attention span of a gnat) and this is the one I used on my blog in the end - thankyou! ;)

I'm not sure what you mean... Do you want a user could click any of those buttons to have that user have your post be tweeted (for the twitter button), be posted on their wall (for facebook) and be digged (for digg)?

For twitter, you can create an account here: http://tweetmeme.com/ after signing up, you have to embed a particular code...

For facebook, I saw an article about this though I haven't really tried this one out. T.T Here's the page. http://bloggerstop.net/2009/11/add-facebook-buttons-and-widgets-to.html

It says you have to embed one of those code if you want a particular article be shared on facebook

For digg, like the tweetmeme, you have to sign up to digg, then get an embed code...

When you get the embed code for all the three of them, on your blogger admin side, go to Settings Tab, then choose Formatting. There's a field there called Post Template. Paste the codes here. Just set them up the way you wanted to see them on your posts.

Save your changes and check the layout if you want how it looks like. :)

Add This is cool in that users can submit to a large number of services on one button, but I myself don't like the looks or the size of the button. I like large, clean, sexy buttons.

To get around this, there are a couple of different things that you can do. You can customize your Add This button and use your own image and re-size the height and width within the HTML code in order to still get the drop-down box and the variety of services available with add this.

On Add This, after you select your service, whether it's a blog or website, and select your style of button, then you can either register for analytics(which is a great tool for tracking how many users submit your posts to the social bookmarking sites) or select "Just give me the button."

On the next page, it gives you the code to embed in either your sidebar or for your posts. Within the HTML code, you can modify the height and width of the image. There is also a "customize" link on this page. To use your own image for the button, you will need to upload your image to your site or blog, then modify the HTML code to make sure it is pointing to your image URL.

Another thing that I like, though, is creating individual buttons across the bottom of the posts, then create a "Follow Me on Twitter" and "Find Me on Facebook" for the sidebar.

To add the Social Networking buttons to your sidebar, go to Social Media Buttons , simply enter your Facebook or Twitter URL, and find the design you want.

To add the individual Social Bookmarking buttons to your posts, you can find the code at New Blogging Tips .

For super cool images like these, go to: Smashing Magazine or My Blogger Tricks .
