You certainly can use an espresso roast bean for regular coffee. Espresso beans are actually the same type of beans you would use for coffee, though they are often roasted slightly differently. The reason Espresso taste different, when compared to coffee, is in the brewing process, not so much the bean. Go to your local coffee shop and ask them what bean they use for their Espresso Machine and chances are good it is the same as some of the coffee they sell...

Use more milk, if that is your preference, to compensate for the bitterness of the burnt flavor.
Or sugar, if you use that.
Do this only in a pinch, buy regular roasted beans of good quality if you want to have a pleasant coffee to imbibe.
Aproveche!

Can you use espresso bean for regular coffee?
I was given a big bag of Starbucks beans, but they are labeled "Espresso Roast", so I'm assuming they are for making espresso (duh!).
Can you use these beans for regular coffee? Will it make a decent cup of coffee?

I would disagree with you on this actually. The "taste" an espresso roast bean gives a cup of coffee is certainly a personal opinion... I learned to enjoy coffee while visiting Germany so I look for a REALLY strong cup when I am drinking coffee, I have found that using espresso roast is the easiest way for me to achieve the taste which I enjoy.

Yes, but use less. It will also have the flavor of a burnt bean. They are roasted longer than normal beans. Use more milk, if that is your preference, to compensate for the bitterness of the burnt flavor.
Or sugar, if you use that.
