Best software program for cataloging TV show DVDs?

I want to catalog my TV Show DVD collection but most of the software I find only catalogs the entire season at a time. Some of these I found at yard sales and a few are missing. I need to be able to catalog what I have and list what I need. Most work great for movies but not TV shows.
Tip for best answer: M$5.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I hope this answers your question?

I use a program called : http://www.whereisit-soft.com/

"WhereIsIt can be used to handle any kind of data, including downloaded programs, magazine CD-ROMs, music collections like MP3s or audio CDs, graphics collections, document backups, etc. WhereIsIt can handle lots of them, too, a couple hundreds or thousands disks in a catalog is nothing unusual, yet catalogs remain reasonably small, single-filed and easy to transfer or send to other users. You can also create more than one catalog, and at any time open and work with as many catalogs at once as needed."

I bought this program a few years back and I love it!! The price is a little high: $39.95 USD; however, I think it is well worth the cost.

Thanks for the answer. This looks like a good program but not exactly what I need. I would like one that will retrieve the DVD info and tell me how many discs are in the series, number of seasons, etc. and show what I have and need. For example: Star Trek TNG has seven seasons with 7 discs per season (I think) and I found seasons 1-3 at a flea-market. When I got them home I found that disc 3 of season 1 was broken and would not work. What I would like is to be able to enter the series name and have the program retrieve the info (from a search on the series from an internet database somewhere) and then I can select the discs I have and mark the ones I don't as 'needed' or such.

I like Advanced File Organizer, I use it to organize my various MP3s, DVDs, ebooks, video and images. However, it's probably not the best choice for creating a computerized list of your DVD library; it's better suited for organizing individual files and folders. For that though it's very flexible and lets you categorize like crazy if you're so inclined.

Thanks for the answer. Please see above comment.
Also, I tried the movie collection software from Collectorz.com and it was really close to what I need, but the support for TV shows was weak. When I tried to enter a DVD from Star Trek TNG season 1, for example, the entire season was one entry. I would like each DVD to be separate so if one is missing (again see above for example) I can easily see.

I just found a freeware program called Movienizer www.movienizer.com It seems really good so far and scanned spyware free.

Extreme Movie Manager. Not free, but $15US. http://www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/

It can search your hard drives or network for movies, catalog them, then find the covers and info about the movies on the net.

EMDB is a small utility to keep track of your DVD collection. With an automatic import from the database of IMDB, export to csv, text or complete website, thumbnail cover preview, a loan tracker, search function and multi-language user interface. EMDB is written in C++ using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and doesn't need a .NET framework or any other external libraries. And best of all... it's free!

It's an online program, but I think it's worth a look... DVD Aficionado: http://www.dvdaf.com/

And it has imdb and Amazon.com link access

I use great freeware tool Movienizer, it supports many on line movie databases in many languages, you can also add your sourses. It organizes people and movies separately, has varios searching options, so it really takes a few seconds to find a movie in your databese. One more cool feature is loan manager, you can note what dvd were given and to whom. So you never loose them))

Movienizer is not free. Movienizer is distributed as try-before-you-buy. You can use the trial version with its limitations as long as you wish. If you like the program, you have to purchase a license in order to unlock all features. Otherwise, it should be removed. Detailed information is available at the licensing page.
