I think this depends strongly on the woman. No woman is looking for exactly the same thing in a mate. I also think a great deal of "attraction" is chemical, we in essence smell the right one.

Personally as a women I look(ed I'm married) for beyond that natural attraction I just spoke of...

Personality wise:

-Honor/Bravery, I always liked the old fashion stand by his word, flower giving good guy. If I could throw in a suit of armor and sword I probably would.
-Honesty, the blunt and brutal kind I never liked a man who watched his words or feared the truth.
-Intelligence/Wisdom, if he can't keep up with my wit hes left behind.
-Humor, life's a joke after all you want someone to enjoy it with.
-Work Ethic, probably my dad's fault but I like people in general that aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and work hard.

Most of these I bet are common themes in a woman's idea of an ideal mate.

Physical:

Long hair.. that's so my top favorite. I love the viking hair. Many women do, some don't.

Okay, so my viking is a hippy too.. still.. hot.

I also have a thing for blue/green eyes and barrel chests but other than that I'm more a personality type girl.
