Is the most ridiculous explanation for crop circles yet actually the correct one?

Crop circles have long been attributed by some to aliens from other planets, and by others to human hoax perpetrators. Now the Australian government has attributed crop circles to "stoned wallabies". What is your spin?

In Australia, some crop circles may indeed be due to "stoned wallabies!"

In the United States and other regions where we have no marsupials, they are most certainly a hoax perpetrated by people. If it is known that people can perpetrate such a hoax, why posit an extraterrestrial origin? That's like asking, "Who drank the rest of the coffee? Was it my housemate, or an alien?"

In addition, some crop circle effects that were once thought impossible to do without some sort of alien technology, such as having the grass fan out in certain ways, have been proven possible by very simple terrestrial means.

But perhaps in the US they are from possums on fermented persimmons? No one has looked into this yet.
