It feels like drinks taste different coming from glasses of different materials.

Whether that's just psychological or not, I don't know, maybe it's just my expectation of how the materials would taste. But the experience - what it tastes like to me - certainly varies.

I tend to think of glass as the neutral material.

People have done actual studies but I can't remember where I found them. I think part of it is real (chemical, texture) and part not (expectation, visual). I once was tempted by a gold lined silver stein but the sticker shock was far too drastic.
