It's not any less safe than drinking regular yellow beer.
Here are the steps.
1. Purchase a light ale. This can also be done with a dark beer, but it'll require so much food coloring that it turns your teeth green when you drink it, and that's something most people would like to avoid.
2. Pour some of the beer into a glass or mug.
3. Place 4-6 drops of green food coloring in the beer. You can also experiment with adding blue food coloring, since the beer is already yellow and mixing that with blue makes green.
4. Pour the rest of the beer. The pouring action should mix in the food coloring, but stir lightly if needed. (Stirring too much can make the beer flat.)
Enjoy!

We've never had a problem with adding green food color to a pint.
I usually only add one drop - too many more drops make it REALLY dark and rather untastey looking - one drop is bright green, delicious and refreshing!
Add the drop before or after you pour - there's really no process to it. Just add and stir!
Cheers!!

Carlsberg from Denmark used to brew a green beer naturally. But it was not a success and I think they stopped.
If you must have green beer, try adding a shot of Blue Curacao to a beer. It might even taste good in a wheat beer.
In case you mean "green" in a different way, I'm attaching a source discussing beers from environmentally friendly brewers.

All you need is some food coloring, which is safe to drink. You can simply add a few drops of green food coloring until you achieve the desired shade of green. You can also get a green color in beer by adding blue food coloring, but it's generally not as vibrant of a green as using green coloring. I've done this every year since I could legally drink (I'm not incriminating myself and admitting drinking before that!!) We've never had a problem with adding green food color to a pint.

Oh!! Side note - do not be alarmed when you wake up on the 18th with a green tounge. This is normal and will eventually go away!

I'm a beer fanatic and disapprove of adding food coloring to beer. It works and is safe, I've seen it done, as long as you use a light colored beer. But you shouldn't do it, St Arnold or Gambrinus may strike you down for impiety. Carlsberg from Denmark used to brew a green beer naturally. But it was not a success and I think they stopped.
