Beer can certainly make your body feel as though it is warmer but that is not the case, in fact your body becomes colder when you drink because the alcohol dilates your blood vessels and pushes them closer to the surface of your skin (thinning your blood)... the result is a feeling of warmth but not true warmth. This can be best explained if you read the article I have included in my source.

I have to disagree with you here. Whether beer can warm you or not depends upon two main circumstances. First, is the beer warmer than you are or not? Beer doesn't have to be served cold, it can be warmed as well. Not the current fashion, but popular in colonial times. Second, as you point out, the alcohol dilates your blood vessels and gets the blood flowing in your extremities. That's bad if you are still out in the cold, but it's good if you have moved into a warmed area. You will get warmer faster resting in front of the fireplace after a cold trip outside if you have a beer.
