You can purchase them at any local florist. It is best to order it advance as nicer ones can take some time to prepare, though most florists can probably throw together a very simple one while you wait.

If you can, find out what type of dress will be worn by the recipient of your corsage. Some strapless and reveling formal dresses don't lend themselves to having a corsage pinned to them. If you don't know what she is wearing and don't want to ruin the surprise by asking her what kind of corsage she would like, you might be better off with a wrist corsage. If you are going to an event where corsages are commonly worn, be sure to order in advance so that you can select an unusual flower and get an arrangement that will let give your date something to be proud of.

Remember that your date will be stuck wearing this thing for an entire evening, so get something that:
*is elegant, simple, and unique
* doesn't limit her mobility and comfort (i.e. nothing huge)
*won't trigger her (or your) allergies
*won't smell strongly enough to interfere with her meal or drinks
