Anyone have a review for Venus razors. Why are five blades better than one?

Good choice with the Venus razor and yes, the model with five blades is the Embrace. Five blades absolutely gives me a really great, close shave. Another thing I'm really liking is the "ribbon of moisture" above the blazes. This thing just glides...it's fantastic! This really is the sports car of the Venus line, in my opinion.

I am a big fan of Venus razors myself - not a big fan of having to shave (I know, join the club right?) - but these razors at least make the shaving much less painful (as in, no nicking my legs, ankles, knees, etc.). The five bladed razor you mention - I think that is the Venus Embrace? If so, excellent choice. I think the five blades give me a much closer shave. That, of course, translates into nice, smooth legs and less shaving needed! Win-win, if you ask me. Enjoy your shaving!

According to the Gillette website, five blades makes the shave much closer and smoother than the regular two or three. I'm def. going to try them out. Personally I like that the sealed packaging won't get wet and the razor won't get rusty in the shower... and I can't get the song out of my head.

I have not tried this razor yet, but five blades are supposed to give you a closer shave than the typical three blades, which should result in softer legs and longer-lasting results. I would think the shaving process would also be smoother and more comfortable with five blades than three.

Visualize a close up side view picture of a razor next to your skin. If there are only three blades on the razor, the blades are further apart and you will see more skin or flesh raised up between the blades causing the blades to scrape your skin more. If you have a razor with five blades, the blades are closer together and therefore your skin is not being scraped quite so badly. Another factor is that more blades mean more cutting power and less having to go over the same area twice or three times. The result is a closer shave with less irritation.
