I used chalk to clean grease splatter spots on my chestnut uggs. How many times must I do it?

i spilled some chinese food right near my uggs and now i have a bunch of little grease splatter spots on one side of my chestnut uggs. i'm scared to try anything else to clean them because i'm scared of ruining them. i really need help!

Remove grease stains by sprinkling or rubbing them with white chalk.

1. Leave the chalk on for a few minutes.
2. Blow away any excess chalk.22
3. Using the bottom of your hand or thumb, gently rub the stain.19
4. Repeat a few times until the stain has almost disappeared.

I know putting a giant pile of salt on an oily or tomato sauce stain works miraculously for pants. I don't know how well that would work on ugs. You can try it if you want, but I claim no responsibility if the salt does funky things to them. (I don't think it will, but don't quote me :D)
