How can I fix this? :(

I feel really stupid! My boyfriend bought me a necklace JUST LIKE THE ONE IN THE LINK... for Christmas.. and I was cleaning it and I broke the chain!! How can I fix it or get a new chain? I want the exact same chain. :( I don't know if it can be welded to be fixed or something. :( I have a spare chain I can use now so I can still wear it, but the chain I'm going to use is not even the right color and it looks funny. :( But I LOVE this necklace! :(

EDIT:
Does Zales sell spare chains? it's just one of the little links broke off... Maybe if I asked my father he could weld it? He's not a welder but would that work or something? :( I'm really upset over this!

Very likely, any decent jeweler would be able to have it soldered back together for you. You might have a warranty if you just received it. Otherwise, just make a few calls and see how much the repair is.

Yep, answerman's right. I'll bet if you go to a decent jeweler you can get it fixed in just a few minutes or otherwise quickly for not much money... Not to worry! Chill out.

If it broke that easily I would do 2 things. First I would take it back to the store to have it replaced because it shouldn't break that easily and it might indicate that the metal wasn't made properly and will fail again in the future. Second I would consider having the chain replaced entirely with a different one. If this design is susceptible to such easy breakage, is it really something you want to wear every day? A simple cleaning shouldn't break it under any circumstances so as much as you love it getting a new chain now might save you the pain of having a cherished present break for good a few years down the road.

I see ;)
Well be honest with yourself and think about whether what you did would have broken another piece of jewelry. Necklaces get snagged on things all the time so they should be made to withstand a little bit of force. If you subjectively think what you did shouldn't have broken it I stand by my advice above.

Good luck!

Don't feel stupid, just bring it back. It is 10k gold which is stronger than 14 or 24k because it has less gold more metal, ie, copper, etc, to make it stronger. It should not have broke, i have been wearing a thinner one every day without taking it off for 5 yrs., no problem. I make and repair chains. Sometimes the links in the chain are not closed properly because they are machine made. Zales should be able to repair or replace the chain for you, just don't wait too long and bring in your proof of purchase. If they give you a hard time, kindly ask to speak to the store manager. Hope this helps.

Oh Snap, i am breaking my watches and things all the time. The jeweler always seems to be able to fix it. Some of my watches are really, really old too so it is not like i can find another. In your case, i would do this if it were me. i would tell the person that gave it to me that i broke it and ask them if they could help me. i would be honest and apologize if they don't know. i think that person would feel loved that you brought the problem back to them because you care about it so much. when my wife asks me to do something like this, then i know it is because she likes me to do things for her and especially if it is something that we have a mutual bond with. my wife got a speeding ticket today and is always wonderful about getting us places on time. i wonder if she will bring it to me because she was driving my truck ;).

you seem like you don't want to tell him, lol, not that it is funny. lets say you got it fixed and never told him. you would know though. the trust that love builds means that anything including objects are just that, objects. they can never replace or repair the true feelings of people. how you feel is always more important than what actually happened. my advice is always that and in a way online media is helpful, but never so much that you should listen to people online. trust in your relationships and you will be rewarded with lifelong happiness one way or another.
