It depends on the culture that you come from - I am as you call it 'Half Black' and was born in Africa. I don't find it racist but politics in different countries dictates that you have to use a non offensive word like afro-carribean etc, etc, etc, I personally think it's political correctness gone a little mad but I do understand that some others will find this offensive.
For instance it's common place in Sierra Leone where I'm from for people to call anyone from a 'mixed-race' background as a 'half-cast,' I was allways known as a half-cast from my childhood and didn't find it offenesive - it's only since I've been living in the UK (for about 25yrs now) that I find this term a little offensive - thats because the laws of the government have adjusted my senses and awareness to the term and how it may offend others and myself with regards to the tone of usage by an individual - ie it can be derogatory, google the meaning of it if you don't already know.
I think I've used enough offensive words for western ears, remember I am as you say 'Half Black' so I hope I haven't offeneded my kind too much - whatever my kind may be.
