I believe that the FAA is to blame. There have been many accidents in the area of the Hudson including the one where Yankee's pitcher Corey Lidle crashed his Cirrus S-22 in to a building. The problem is that the Hudson river corridor is a popular tourist area with a high congestion of VFR traffic that does not allow for as high of a level of FAA control as the IFR corridors at higher altitudes (where requests must be made for everything and there are no helicopters). If anyone is to blame it is the FAA for not closing the corridor and continuing to allow horriffic accidents like this to happen.

Tough - this is a breathtaking area for sightseeing flights. It sounds like he flew into the back of the helicopter. The helicopter could have been gaining altitude and he wouldn't have seen it because he was flying a low wing aircraft. Are we supposed to regulate driving more because we have car accidents that kill people everyday? I'm more in the no fault camp.
