How many laps is the Daytona 500?

I used to think it was 500 laps, but someone told me the track is more than a mile long. How long is the track?

I used to think 500 too!

There are 200 laps in the Daytona 500. It is a 500-mile NASCAR Nextel Cup race series and Daytona is classified as a superspeedway, with a 2.5-mile tri-oval track.
