You will usually see the bidders when your auction end time is near.
A good description and some real photos (not from Google) can also attract buyers.
When I say good description, you must consider to be as honestly as you can. Especially if you are selling used items.
Promoting your items is not always a solution. You will loose money doing that ( well..I did) .
Can you please send me a private message with your items? I'd like to take a look. I used eBay to sell some items...and maybe I can help!

Take a good clear photo of the item(s).
Put the starting bid at something fair.
If you're adding a Buy it Now, make that a fair price too, maybe market or a little above.
Make shipping fair. DO NOT INFLATE SHIPPING TO MAKE MORE PROFIT!!
Depending on the item(s), look them up on the web to get an idea what to start bidding at and for a BIN.
Put your item in the relevant categories.

I've heard that you should describe your item as if you had no pictures, and take pictures as if you had no description. Make it perfectly clear to the buyer what you're sellling. Always describe any imperfections, no matter how insignificant they seem to you. Folks will buy things in less than perfect condition if you're honest with them about it.
Here are a few more pieces of advice from what I've learned doing ebay over the years:
It helps to list more than one item at a time; one listing may lead buyers to another item you're offering.
Make your listing as professional looking as possible--avoid bad grammar, poor spelling, etc., so you appear to be reputable.
State your policies in clear terms, and be fair. Many sellers will state "no refunds" which is certain to discourage buyers. I mean, Walmart accepts returns, so why shouldn't I? On certain items I may state that there is a no return policy, for instance, recorded material that could be copied, CD's and DVD's, software and the like.
Be friendly and helpful to your prospective buyers. Provide good customer service, and you'll get raves in your feedback and return customers. I've noticed that some sellers will threaten the buyers with an unpaid item dispute for not paying up on time--right in the listing! I'd never buy from anyone with such poor customer relations; the seller has a right to expect their customers to pay up, but Heck, I haven't even decided to buy the thing yet! I'll pass it up because I don't want to deal with sellers like that.
I'd be interested in seeing your listings, too, I may be able to offer more specific advice.

My best advice is to use every space available in your title to describe your listing. It doesn't even have to make a proper sentence, just use every keyword a buyer might use to find it.
