I would like to think I would. Having volunteered at Domestic Violence shelters and worked DV hotlines for a long time, I know that one of the reasons abusive relationships have been able to persist and pretty much decriminalized until more recent years is that people in general are so reluctant to get involved in so-called 'family matters,' even when the danger to a woman or child was clear. So if/when I was ever a witness to what might seem like a domestic dispute, yes, I would probably get involved.
In the mayor's case, the woman involved was actually yelling for help. I definitely think he was right to intervene, and I would have tried to do the same.

Would you have reacted as Mayor Tom Barrett did in this domestic dispute?
Tom Barrett, Mayor of Milwaukee, saw a domestic dispute while visiting the Wisconsin State Fair and intervened. He stated that the incident was between the father and grandmother of a one-year-old child, which left him with a broken arm and gash on his face.
Would you have intervened as Mayor Barrett did?

Yes I would have. Being a father of two myself there is no way that I could be happy with myself if I would just walk on by. I often read and see stories on the news of people in a situation that could have turned out much differently if only someone had stepped in.

any human being with a mind a heart and a conscience would have taken the same action of the mayor. but!! and i will say this word again BUT it is not wise to intervened in any type of dispute what so ever. any one can easily get hurt or lose their life trying to intervened in any type of dispute. you cannot determine the mood or even know if the persons have a weapon which is a dangerous thing. the best approach would be if you have other people with you that would be able to subdue the individuals at the same time. if not u might subdue one and the other see this as an advantage to injure the other person. i probably would have taken the same measures as the mayor but depending on the situation i would have to approach it cautiously
