Venus can be seen quite easily in broad daylight if it's far enough from the sun in the sky, but it helps if you know exactly where to look. Right now, Venus is in the morning sky, and the easiest way to see it in daylight is to start observing before sunrise and just keep watching. I've used this technique on Jupiter, which is considerably fainter than Venus, and been able to see it with the naked eye until well after sunrise.

Another tactic is to observe Venus near sunrise or sunset and note the separation (distance and direction) between the sun and Venus, then make the same offset from the sun in full daylight and search for Venus in that part of the sky. If the moon happens to be nearby, the search becomes much easier.

Finally, if you have a telescope with setting circles, you can look Venus's sky coordinates up in an ephemeris and then point your scope in that direction as a guide. Here is an online ephemeris calculator for Venus:

Asker's Rating:
• This is quite a comprehensive answer, I didn't know Jupiter can be seen in daylight, too.

Thanks!
