The use the buildings which were intricately erected so they will be able to observe the movements of the stars and other planets.

---quote----
One of the most notable series of buildings at the site is that formed by Structures E-1, E-2, and E-3, which are aligned north-south and form an astronomical observatory, the first found in the Maya world. From a observation point on a nearby pyramid, named Temple of the Masks or structure E-sub VII, the early Maya could watch the sun rise behind these buildings and mark the summer and winter solstices

I could imagine that this build be about 10 stories tall, still they need some kind of high technology equipment to be more accurate and credible.

Considering that the Mayans also had no street lights, house light (except fires burning) and air pollution like we do they most likely could see many more stars then we do.

It is a proven fact that people living within cities or around large areas of light or in heavily air polluted regions can't see the stars are clearly as those living in the wilderness.

I would question your thinking here "the mayan's seen to be referring to a planet that is billion light years away"

Says who? I realize 'seen' is a spelling mistake and should be 'seem', but 'seem' is NOT a scientific word!

As with alot that is written, one can put an interpretation to a passage that the author did not intend, especially if said passage\sentence\word is ambiguous (having several possible meanings or interpretations)

There are NO (as far as I know) Mayan descriptions of them physically looking at any star that is not visible to the naked eye. What they guessed or imagined is another matter

There are approximately 9100 stars visible, only half visible at any one time, see..

Commenter, apart from your sentence structure being unreadable I refer you to this comment, "the mayan's seen to be referring to a planet that is billion light years away"

and repeat my question

Says who????
At what point did the Mayans specifically refer to a know planet, a billion light-years away?
Please quote the exact passage!

As an aside, but point for consideration\discussion, many civilizations, even today, 'see' things in the night sky that are NOT THERE or are IMAGINATIONS, wishful thinking if you would like to think that way.

If you was to study the number of different ways the universe has been 'seen' probability tells us that there is a chance that one of them is going to be correct, WITHOUT the 'seer' (?) having any prior knowledge!

(If you make enough guesses, one WILL be correct, but it is still a GUESS!)

I don't need to refer to any so called expert, who probably does'nt know what he is talking about. like the mayan's or others who profess to know all, I don't know what knowledge you have in this matter, I presume you are just professing to know all.

Okay enough of the silliness

THE MAYANS DID NOT SEE ANY STARS (OR PLANETS) THAT ARE NOT VISIBLE TO THE NAKED EYE!!!

And note NO planet outside our solar system is visible to the naked eye!!

The assumption made by your question is WRONG!!

Someone would have to be DELUSIONAL to think the Mayans could see stars or planets not visible to the naked eye!
