Man went to the moon. Specifically Americans. The launches were witnessed by thousands, viewed on TV by millions, studied by astronomers around the world, and it was - quite simply - one of the most kick-ass things humans have accomplished.
How can we know it is true? Lots of ways, but a couple that I like are the fact that we brought back rocks (you'd need to know a bit about geology to understand how those can be proven as real), and we put a laser reflector up there which we can use to bounce light signals and measure the moon's distance. (Did you know it is moving away from us?)

• You provided some very good examples. You also provided links that readers can follow if they want more information. I also saw the MythBusters episode. I think they did a very thorough job of "busting" the moon landing hoax theory.

Yes, we landed on the moon. There are a lot of kooks professing otherwise, but Phil Plait,a famous astronomer (who is now President of the James Randi Educational Foundation), has painstakingly shot them down with good old-fashioned science and logic. Of course, he's not the only one to do so, but he has a knack for explaining science and astronomy in particular to 'laypeople', so I recommend his debunkings. See my source for all the info.
