Here’s a list of some of the finest tattoo shops in New York. Hope you find one you like!

Third Eye Tattoos

682 Union St.
Brooklyn, NY 11215-1161
(718) 789-8282

Tue – Sat 1 pm to 8 pm

Third Eye Tattoos is a great parlor which has artists specializing in many different areas of body art, but centralized around designs that are entirely black or grey. Their line work (how well-defined and straight the lines are) is superb. This shop also offers body piercings, but it’s not as much of a specialty.

New York Adorned

47 2nd Ave.
New York, NY 10003-8666
(212) 473-0007

Sun – Thu 1 pm to 9 pm
Fri – Sat 1 pm to 10 pm

New York Adorned is a nice parlor with very friendly artists. They specialize in henna work. This shop has a cash-only policy for body art, so don’t forget to bring your cash up front or else you’ll lose you appointment. New York Adorned also features a huge amount of body jewelry which is for sale, and the body jewelry can be charged on credit cards.

Red Rocket Tattoo

46 W. 36th St.
New York, NY 10018
(212) 736-3001

Mon – Sat 12 pm to 8 pm

Red Rocket Tattoo is a great body art shop in midtown which has a host of experienced, professional body artists. It is also a notably clean, sanitary environment. They offer body piercings and specialize in complex color tattoos, which are much harder to produce. All in all, this may be the best tattoo parlor in the entire city.

Skintology Total Skin and Laser Spa

181 7th St.
New York, NY 10011
(212) 989-6555

Mon – Sat 10 am to 8 pm
Sun 11 am to 7 pm

This is a high-tech, extraordinarily clean, exceedingly professional tattoo shop. In fact, it’s really not even a tattoo shop at all, but more of a skin-alteration complex. Skintology also offers laser hair removal, skin treatments, and permanent makeup treatments. In fact, virtually any beauty-related or skin-related treatment can be had here. A note to the men, though: this place tends to be frequented a good bit more by women.

Fly Rite Studios

492 Metropolitan Ave.
Brooklyn, NY 11211
(718) 599-9443

Open Daily 2 pm to 10 pm

This is one of the premier New York tattoo parlors when it comes down to talented artists. The body artists at Fly Rite Studios are some of the best in the world, and this shop has a reputation for hiring only the most promising, up-and-coming standout artists. The line work at Fly Rite has a reputation as well, for excellence, and so this is a perfect place for simple, straight-line designs which are actually harder for most tattoo artists to draw.

Andromeda

33 Saint Marks Pl.
New York, NY 10003-7817
(212) 505-9408

Sun – Thu 12 pm to 10:30 pm
Fri – Sat 12 pm to 1 am

Andromeda is the leading late-night and weekend tattoo parlor. You’d be amazed by the crowds that are found in this place at midnight on any Saturday of the year. This is a clean, comfortable shop which tends to be popular with the younger, alternative-rock crowd. The one downside for this shop is that, when it comes to body piercings, they have somewhat of a bad reputation, particularly at being friendly to people who have a hard time with their piercing.

Venus Modern Body Arts

199 E. 4th St.
New York, NY 10009-7207
(212) 473-1954

Tue – Sat 1 pm to 9 pm
Sun 1 pm to 7:30 pm

This place is all the rage in New York body art. Their big specialization is actually in body jewelry, as the owner of the shop, Marla Tash, offers up a stunning array of pieces which she herself designed. There are also many pieces of jewelry which are picked out from other artists, and some of the jewelry is on the high-end of the price scale, but beautiful. This is also a very good body art parlor, and the tattoo artists are very talented and professional.
