My favorite type is High Dynamic Range photography. It simply makes the most ordinary scenes look spectacular. Unless you have an HDR camera, it takes some work to put an HDR image together, but it's definitely worth it.

Black & White, sharp, high contrast images still have the most impact on me. The subject matter can be almost anything but landscape and "still life" are the most common subjects for this technique.
The photography I DO the most is sports and events, but that comes more from a family "duty" (a welcome one) to document life's moments. than from an artistic passion.

Nature in the winter. There is something beautiful about it that can't be put into words.

The moon. In a way we are all connected by the moon, we all see it in our night sky. There is something so beautiful and peaceful about how the moon, especially a full moon shine in the dark night. While there are many other beautiful pictures, many times people to appreciate the vastness of space. Many people wake up and are like it's just another day. But we live in a small house, that is part of larger city of a larger state of a larger continent, of a larger Earth, of a larger galaxy that is a small spec amongst billions of galaxies. The moon is an amazing spectacle, it's a tiny piece of what else is out there.
