Legend has it that the first boots were worn by Ghengis Khan. Later Wellingtons, a 4 part-construction boot that was easily mass-produced were worn by soldiers in the United States Civil War. Then Cowboys started wearing variations of Wellingtons, orignially cowboys worn them as work boots, but then Hollywood made them glamorous with the likes of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. The modern boot still has a 4-part construction.
