She seems to be a composition of opposites, young and mischievious yet old and wise, free yet restricted, real yet a phony... I could not tell you what it is in the painting that makes me see that... That is what makes it so unique in my eyes. Just look at her!

putting aside all that davinci code ramble about her being half man half woman... i guess the most interesting thing about it is the outlook.. basically, you can't define the time and space of the image.. the image looks as it is taken away from its actual place and just pasted on a different reality.. you can speak as much as you like about the mysterious smile or eye looks.. but for me it is the transportation of the mona lisa from her actual place to a new calm one where she poses to take a drawing.
