There's no absolute technique in shading a manga drawing. You can start by creating shadowing effect cause by a pencil with stroking lines of horizontal or vertical. Choose the right angle of the when shading your drawing like emphasizing the anatomy of the body like curves and turns.

Materials often start with pencil with various darkness of shade. You can apply the most lightest from the darkest before finalizing your drawing. Dot effect or making circles can balance the shade or shadow of a sketch.

Charcoal or colored pencil are common material used in manga sketches. Ink is added in final lining to make the remaining detailed shows.

There are lots of techniques in shading a drawing.. I normally use this 2 methods, line shading and the other one is the dot effect.. Line shading is the normal way of shading... Make a line in a simultaneous way.. But be sure that the line is dark to light... I use the dot effect more in editorial cartooning.. It is almost similar to line shading but the difference you will use dot... I would suggest that be aware on the pencil you will use.. Pencil have different point... It is better to have them all... Practice makes perfect and be sure that you will practice... i hope you won't wear sunglasses when you are practicing.. =p By the way check this video.. Maybe you are interested about this... You will surely love it..
