I could pick one single painting that might cover this large scale of ideas that covered not only painting and sculpture, but science and design... but I can't.

One area during the this high period of expression can still be seen living and breathing in the shape of nature itself. It is the Renaissance Garden.

The Renaissance worked hand and hand when it came to the power and energy of nature and I think it is best expressed in the gardens they created that are still alive today, with Italy being the birth place for these living paintings of nature.

By taking the newly learned skills of mathematics and geometry, they created works of art that seem to overpower nature, shaping it into an ideal for the human eye. Creating a power over nature on a larger scale.

By taking older classical ideas, they were able use science to take the power and energy of nature and display it for all to see.

• What were the influences of Islam art on the Renaissance? I can see from your example, geometry symbolize perfection, balance, and order. I suggest comparing the garden structures to some of the Mosques in design patterns.

The 'golden' age of Islamic art started well before the Renaissance was at full bloom. This age began in the 7th century along with their own 'rebirth' and mixture of the arts and sciences.

Since their medium was mostly architectural, Spain was the most influenced European country with the Moors being responsible for bringing the knowledge and beauty with them.
