How can I dye a rug? I need to do this in-place on a flat surface, not dipping them into a vat of dye.
What I want to do is more like rug-painting. I have some various rugs (slightly stained, although that doesn't really matter) that I would like to dye in different colors and patterns. The rugs are level loop pile, of unknown fiber types.

I looked into it once, actually carpet dye is nearly non existent due to it being impractical. However, I love experimenting with crafts like this. I'd try something like making a paste out of fabric dyes, how to get that off once the dyes set I'm not sure.Maybe vacuum (I'd hate to risk ruining one though, dye has that special way of showing up all over) up the powder once it drys?
Honestly though....I don't really think its a do-able craft
