1)
Make a plan

What do you want to write about? Clearly compose a brief, clear paragraph that says exactly what you want the blog to be about?

2)
Figure out who is going to read and importantly participate in your blog?

After you determine the core purpose of your blog, think about who is going to read it. The best blogs always have a strong community, so if there is some way that you can encourage them to participate in your blog, the easier things will be.

3)
Refine your look

After you know the what and the who, it's time to tailor your look.

There are a TON of free templates for wordpress out there. The one you're using now is very common. There's nothing wrong with using a free template, but if it's too common or your readers don't identify with the theme, they may not stick around to read what else you have to say.

4)
Constantly work on improving your posts

The quality of your content is key. Grammar, style, photos, videos and much more contribute to good blog posts. Have a close look at the popular blogs that you read. Listen to their tone, inflection and style. Try to emulate that.

5)
Learn about traffic and blogging

Darren is the mad professor of the blog world. Go back into his archives and learn what he says. It's very important and relevant: http://www.problogger.net/

Check out the myrid of tutorials and advice that is made available by other bloggers: http://www.google.ca/search?q=how+to+blog

6)
Participate in other similar blogs and build natural traffic.

Don't worry about the tricks and gimmicks to obtain traffic. If you become part of the community that you're writing in or about and your content is good, you'll develop a strong number of regular readers, commenters and subscribers.

With that, will come revenue and the $400 a month that you're looking for.

What are you doing with it?
I went there and it was a confusing mess! You need CONTENT. Linking to every social media site profile you have is not going to make you a dime. You need regularly updated, original (or very well aggregated) content. You need to play to an audience, and to do that, you need to know who your audience is.

Right now, you seem very much in the amoeba phase of web business development.

It is also worth noting that for a single average blog, $400/month is actually a very, very large amount of money. AdSense and Amazon Affiliates alone won't get you anywhere near that. The people making real money at this tend to run dozens of blogs, not just one. That brings in a multiplier - 10 blogs need only bring in a certain amount of traffic, but one blog would need to bring in 10x that traffic all by itself, you know?

If you want to focus on a single site and make real money, you'll need to consider selling something - ebooks or some other sort of real product that can bring in money at at higher rate than the occasional 10cent click from Google.

At first glance, your blog doesn't appear to be anything more than a limited form of Mahalo Answers. So why should anyone got to your blog instead of Mahalo itself?

1. You need to offer more original content on the front page.

2. You need highlight your artwork so that it is prominent and not buried.

3. When I think of a blog I think of text and thoughts/ideas. Even if you are focusing on the art or a video clip, you should be publishing a blurb, at least, with it. Give your ideas and thoughts about what image or clip you have there. It makes it more personal and pulls people in.

4. I think that the Mahalo Answers bit should be downplayed more and off to the side. As it is, when you click on the link, it gives the impression that all your blog about is Mahalo Answers.

You need to use an independent blog with your own host..maybe WordPress. you need a focus for your blog that the reader can see in the first 2 seconds of landing at your blog. You need to write coherently about issues that you say you are writing about. You need some design. You need to promote yourself as an expert in whatever field you are trying to get an audience for. You need to integrate with Twitter Digg etc etc...You essentially need a focus. Do your research by looking at other blogs that are successful like the Huffington Post for example and to make money check out Steve Palavina's site.
