Is this the artist?

Kimberley Crowe

kimberley_crowe@hotmail.com

These pieces look like they're taken from the same vein:
http://kimberleycrowe.com/scapes.asp

If I couldn't get a hold of her, I'd call it "Kimberly's Sunset".

That's cool... it is a very nice painting. I like it a lot.

But I donno about re-titling the work of an artist... aren't they sorta picky about that sort of thing?

Is this artist different? It would actually be a pretty cool thing if an artist did let the owner name it. The name would reflect what the painting meant to him/her, not just the artist.

As I promised I contacted Kimberey and here is her response.

"I actually did not title any of the work rather just what they were in my head. I also did not sign ...I have done both before but I just didn't feel to this time. I felt very connected to all my work and that was enough for me.

If you would like to title the work and that works for you, then it is yours and I am glad that you enjoy it and it has made me very happy to know my work or babies are somewhere that they are appreciated.

Thanks again for your support.

Kimberley Crowe "

If you squint your eyes and tilt your head, it looks like a cute bunny on the beach (oh.. wait, that's just my reflection in the monitor!)
But seriously... I looked at her bio and know she lives up North in Ontario now, but has spent a lot of time in Florida. The colors look a little more tropical to me.
Why not call it 'Miami Wind'?

Hope you like one of them enough to use it - maybe even suggest it to the artist :)

It appears to be a Sunset with beautiful colors behind the sun, yet there is no water, just sand.

To me, it looks like a desert at sunset, though there's disk of the sun, just light.

It's been said that when we die there is a light we go into. I've always imagined this light was a the end of a tunnel, but maybe it's at the end of a horizon.

I would call this picture, "Into The Light."

Well, it's an abstract for sure. Atleast I think it is. How about your significant other's name with it. Like "__'s dream". I am sure she will be pretty happy. But if I were to name this piece, it would be "Twilight" (not after the movie) or "Nightfall in the planes" or "Plume of the phoenix".

Calling it anything other than what the artist has deemed is a great disservice to the painting and art as a whole. You should contact her directly and get the proper name of the piece.

As an artist myself, I'm not sure I agree with this. Much of the beauty of art, particularly abstract art like this painting, is that it can be interpreted in different ways. The art is not only what is on the canvas, but what it means in the mind of the viewer.

I, for one, often think of a title for an image after I've done the work. I'm more attached to the art itself rather than to the title.

In keeping with the other titles of her pieces (from her website), it would likely just be Untitled, or 2009. Or if you're lucky Sunset 2009.

Stepping outside her naming convention I'd venture to title it - Neptune in Prada
